The Cathedral Matters Guild is a group of Fredericton area rug hooking enthusiasts working to raise funds for the restoration of Christ Church Cathedral, a national historic site. Techniques employed are those used by our grandmothers using hand-dyed wool fabric and an old-fashioned style hook to produce beautiful hooked pieces which vary in style and design.
The Cathedral's stained glass windows have inspired much of the work, however, the Guild members bring their own creativity and sense of whimsy to many of the designs.
Items hooked by the Guild are available for sale at the Cathedral Hall on Church Street, at the University of New Brunswick's Christmas Craft Sale in Memorial Hall, or by contacting any of the Guild members.
If you are interested in learning to rug hook in the stained glass style or in helping to fund the restoration of a national historic site as well as keep an old craft alive, join us for a morning of rug hooking and fellowship. The Guild meets every second Monday from 9:00 AM to 12 noon at the Cathedral Memorial Hall on Church Street in Fredericton. We welcome any interested person, just drop in or a call a member.
